Give Me A Reason…

I have to admit, I was hoping for some outrageously silly reasons to sling stuff.  But it seems everyone takes this decluttering business rather seriously!

As to the winner….Kellen’s comment, that getting rid of stuff creates more space for us to truly be who we are, was a very close runner-up.  Jamie said something similar.

And I was very taken with Rosanna’s metaphysical arguments and statement that energy needs to circulate.

But the reason that won me the most was Hillary’s declaration that slinging creates openness for what’s next.  Like that one a lot.  So, Hillary, the prize is yours and will be on its way to you shortly.

The Sling: Day Five

Yep, the Sling is slung.  And I’m feeling all rosy and glowing and virtuous.  Not only did I exceed my target of £150 for Jessie’s Fund; I also outslung the donations (final tally: 201 items).  So I’d like a big virtual pat on the back, if you please!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped me get there….to all my oh-so-generous sponsors….and to everyone who offered encouragement via e-mail or in the comments.  Couldn’t have done it without you all.

In truth, there’s still plenty to be slung around here.  But I’m inspired and on a roll.  So the slinging shall go on.

The Sling: Day Four

Yippee!!!

While I slept last night, Kellen made the donation that sailed me past my target.  I was woken by the tinkling sound of money being dropped into a bowl (that’s what you get when you download JustGiving’s iPhone app!).  But there was never a better reason to be woken in the middle of the night.  A big thank you to Kellen (whose own recent slinging spree inspired me to tackle my own clutter).

So I’m celebrating today (hence the daffodils - I treat myself) and have been slinging with renewed vigour.  Raising £155 for Jessie’s Fund feels like a good way to spend the dark days of January.  But it doesn’t have to stop there.  If you feel like chipping in, there’s still time.

Amongst other things, I tackled piles of papers today.  How they accumulate!  But the recycling skip at the tip is now a lot richer for my clearing out.

The Sling: Day Three

Shoes today.  How on earth did I wind up with so many?  I’m not even a shoe person (at least, I didn’t think I was….).

Flagging a bit today.  Can’t say I’m experiencing that ‘floating’ feeling that Helen wrote about in yesterday’s comments.  Oh, no!  More like a stuck-in-treacle kind of a feeling.  A helpless, overwhelmed sort of a feeling.  But I’ll press on!

The Sling: Day Two

That’s a running total, I’ll have you know.  As in, I haven’t slung 82 things today.  Just altogether. 

I was slinging clothes this morning.  This girl has waaaay too many clothes!  A few fewer now, though.
